I was going for a joy ride right now testing out the new suspension and i went around this nice bend on to rt. 10. after i got out of the bend i was flooring it(e-shift).....and then i kinda let off the gas cause of a car in the way then switched lanes and floored it again untill like 65mph then just let off untill it dropped to like 45mph. I pressed on the gass and the rpms when flying to redline. I pulled over and put it in park and was like wtf. i thought maybe i hit it into neutral by accident. Then i went back out on the road and it wouldnt get out of 1st gear, just redlinning it. So i pulled over again and turned the car off. Let it sit for like 2min. and started it back up and it worked fine.....
WTF happend to my tranny in that process????? i don't understand????

i dont know the eshifts that well, but did you have it in the e-shift mode and think you were just in auto?

sounds like the first gear clutch inside the tranny is probably startin to mess up....they'll probably want to put another trans in if they don't have a guy there to do heavy trans work. btw, if your anywhere near parsippany, feel free to come by my house sometime and i can take a look at it, but i'd say more than likely the clutch for first gear is pretty worn by now from "abuse." Does it also do the same thing in regular automatic mode when this happens?

Take it from someone who knows a 2001 IS300 - Me.

You, driving like a fuctard will not let the car shift if the Tranny ECU detect less than favorable saftey conditions, especially in E-Shift.

As for the ECU update.... see above, You driving like a fuctard does not arbitrarily make the ECU need a reflash (out of the blue)

Let me know what the "Clutch Packs" look like - cause thats surely the problem.

Im being sarcastic - If you drive like a ASS the IS300 stops you from acheiving ASStasiticness. built in safety feature. over revving will throw car into safe mode.

alright well since im over 80k and i never had my tranny oil changed im gonna have that done next week. A buddy told me to use some kind of redline oil??? or should i just go to the dealer and get it from them.

Your buddy is not versed in Lexus Use the regular Toyota Type-T or whatever is in the tranny now. no need for expensive redline oil.

its different on a manual gearbox... when you are dealing with line pressure and electrical sensors, every variation from the norm comes into play as an X-factor.

Seriously, unless you have a car, be silent.

hehe, good input on the safety mode their rich...i don't know the features of an automatic IS...all i know is how to mis-shift on the highway and spend well over a month on an engine swap in my driveway!

It could be your tire size. what are they?

Don't use anything but toyota tranny fluid in the auto.

tires are stock. How could tire size affect the tranny from shifting???

Thanks for the heads up on the tranny fluid. Monday after class im going to the dealership to pick it up. Im probably gonna have my friends mechanic do it for me since i've heard he does great work. (flushing the system and all)

actually i wanna ask another question. I dont know wat it actually is but sometimes when i come to a stop or when i get out my car....it has a bad oder to it. Could it be that my injectors are dirty?? or wat?
no mods so far except for suspension.

so i got my tranny flushed at Warnock lexus today and i felt a difference right away. Shifting is a lot smoother. So thanks for everyones help wit the situation.

But, while i was there i asked them about the reflash for the 01 models, and the prick behind the desk was trying to tell me that there is none. That the 04-05 models are the only years that need the reflash. I tried to explain to him that i have done a lot of research about the matter and i was 100% positive about it. but he just wasnt hear me out. so i just dropped it cause i wasnt about to get into an argument wit the guy. Then i asked him about getting the car alligned cause i recently put new suspension in. At first he told me it was 119.99. Then once i mention the changes i did to the car he tried to tell me that that changes everything. So the price might go up. Just cause the car is dropped how does that affect the price???? Its the same job as if some dumbass ran into a curb and fucked there allignment up. I don't understand.
Those fuckin pricks behind the desk think that they know everything.

sorry for the long jibberjabber but had to get it out.

marc seems to have no problem with them at warnock. i might go to the morristown toyota that brian (lexis77) told me to go to. they have an in ground alighnment system perfect for lowered cars.
