Hey guys, I've had this problem for a while now.
None of my cigarette lighters work, did I blow a fuse? It's really annoying not to have them, and I'd like to finally have them back. What would I need to do to replace it? I'm not really the electrical guru so maybe Jr. knows? Thanks.
Also, my horn doesn't work. Don't know why, it just stopped working one day. I have relocated the horns and moved the wires around a bit, but that was a while ago.

I'd say it's ur fuse. Have any electronics hooked up to ur cigarette lighter in the past? I've blew 3 fuses when i hooked an inverter to a rental car.

Besides the fuse, make sure cig lighter socket didn't short out.

^^^ I doubt it's the cig lighter socket because both of my cig lighters don't work and I think they went at the same time. I had a power cord to my MP3 player hooked up to it, which is probably what blew it. Anybody know what kind of fuse I need to buy and how to replace it?

def check fuses. 90% chance its a fuse. and i think its the same fuse for the horn and cig lighters on the is300
when i get home ill check wiring diagrams

I've read something like this on .net and someone suggested to check the other ac outlet to make sure no metals/coins are on there. Also, the fuse box should have labels and tell you exactly what fuse you need to replace.

Did you get a chance to change the fuse?

Haven't got a chance to take a look due to all the rain. The fuse box is by the passenger foot well, right?

There is another one by the driver side and the main fuse box in the engine bay in front of the battery.

I did some research, the fuse for the cig lighter is in the driver side foot well, there should be extra fuses somewhere in the car, I'll see if I can replace it today.

If you don't have a test light, then check the fuses by eye by pulling them out. Just leave the key out of the ignition cylinder, and you don't have to worry about pulling out a wrong fuse. Take one out at a time, and put them back in the spot where they came out of. If you take off the cover, it should map out where each fuse is. Hold the cover next to the fusebox and it should read like a mirror image of the fusebox, with labels on the cover as to where each fuse is and a brief description of what component that fuse is designated for. If you're still having a problem or can't find it, lemme know and I'll post a picture later of where this fuse is in the IS300. I think the fuse for the cigarette lighter/power outlet/ maybe horn is in the driver's side kick panel inside the car. I wouldn't think a horn would be in the same fuse though. Japanese cars usually have separate fuses for the horn and outlets. If anything, cig lighters and radios go together in some systems, but not the IS with it's radio.
Oh, and don't use a different amperage rating for any fuse, unless you don't mind having to fix a possible melted wire or shorted circuit down the road. They are a specific Amp rating that complies with how sensitive that particular system is and how large the wiring is for a specific component.

Dave as for the horn you didn't ground it right when you relocated it, you can also check the horn fuse to make sure it's still good. The cig lighter is fuse related there are two panels. The manual shows the location of each fuse and associated amperage.

a 2 dollar autozone tester would make your life a little easier. it'll save you from having to randomly pulling fuses to check them. you just put the test on the back of th fuse and if it lights up, its good. if not then change it out

THANXS....I ONLY HAD TO CHANGE THE CIG LIGHTER (EXTREMELY SIMPLE) SO IM GLAD IT WASN'T ANYTHING ELSE...THAT I KNO OF I DONT HAVE TO CHANGE ANY OTHER FUSES LOL..BUT THAT IS A GOOD IDEA!!! SO IMMA BUY ONE AND CHECK TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING ELSE IS GOOD ;)

Or you can look closely with a flashlight without pulling any fuses out....the zigzag metallic center will have a break in it, or the fuse casing(the colorful part) will be blackened slightly.

Sometimes you really have to take the fuse out. I have seen blown fuses where it was so minor you couldnt tell it was blown until looking very closely.
