Ok, In my mind, I've always thought the Suby WRX is an extremely fast car. Out the hole they're insanely fast if the driver is good at it. I've always been scared of WRXs since they came out.. but today, everything changed my mind about them.
On the highway today (295) I saw a WRX gunning down pass me as I merged onto the highway from local road. Apparantly he saw me, and slammed his breaks, so at first I thought he was racing somebody and brake to wait for someone to catch up. After I merged onto the highway, I noticed there's no one behind us, so I'm like "hmmm, he slammed the brakes for me? WTF."
Since it was 5:30am-ish in the morning, I was still sleepy. The WRX driver slowed down to right next to me, since his window was tinted on the front I couldn't see who the driver was. So I hit my brakes alittle to pull back a bit, and make sure it's not a "STi". (I've been smoked from the stop light once a few months back:o ) So I noticed shit was stock.. or least no custom exhaust and said "WRX" without the STi wing or badge.
At this point, my mind was thinking "WRX vs my modded TL, can I beat that shit??? I'm not sure." But figured with little traffic at 5:30am, I had 2 choices
A) I love NJM insurance, where I pay only about $1000 for 2 cars. So fuck this guy and avoid possible ticket if a cop catches us
B) Try to run with this guy and get WAKE UP a bit more since I was kinda sleepy.
As I was debating, the WRX driver honked, I assume he wanted to race. So he helped me make up my mind easily. My choice was B :rolleyes: I insisted the 3 honks and shifted to 3rd gear... My car was blasting techno at this time, so I couldn't hear his car (whether he had an intake or not). But basically, the WRX is a turtle on the highway comparing to my TL. I think we gunned it at 60mph, so within a few seconds I was hitting 95mph and he was far in my rear view mirror. I won with big ass surprise, because I thought he'd edge me out since it's a WRX.
Then again, my TL is modded and that WRX was probably stock...
I'm glad that race changed my mind about WRX, now had that been a STi, I wouldn't even bother racing it cuz I already knew the result.
