thanks. each time i've been to pocono raceway with EMRA, there has been a motorcycle event going on at one of the other tracks. i'm not sure who organizes those though.

go to EMRA's website (http://www.emraracing.org). they have a few time trials left this year at a bunch of tracks in the northeast. there are a lot of other organizations that have time trials and track events too (NASA, HPDE, etc.). EMRA's website has all the info on car prep, rules, etc.
after tech inspection, you basically get 3 half-hour sessions, and then two timed laps. they give out awards for the best times in each car class.
if it's your first time, you have to sit in a 1-hour class, then go out with an instructor. people often let the instructor drive the first few laps to show you the right line and how hard you can push your car. i did this the first time i went about two years ago, and it was really helpful. once he thinks you're ready, he'll sign off on your time trial license, and you can go out on your own the rest of the day. otherwise, he'll go out with you until he feels you can handle it on your own.
it's generally pretty safe. you're only allowed to pass on designated passing zones, and people should signal you to pass if they're holding you back. so there's very little chance for car-to-car contact. it's the most fun you can have in your car, and you really learn more about handling your car at the limits than you could ever learn anywhere else.

you should. there were some nice cars there that day, including the M6 in the picture and a cl600 (i think that's what it was - it had a v12 bi-turbo).

nah, i think it was the cl600 (which also has the v12 biturbo). it wasn't a convertible. ;)

yeah, it's a lot more simple than it looks for the time trials.
the basic price for the day is $175 if you pre-register, $200 if you don't. for that, you get 3 half-hour sessions, plus two timed laps, and if there's time left over, you may get some "happy laps" at the end. some tracks cost more (i.e., Lime Rock, the fee is $210).
if it's your first time, you need to take the 1-hour class, which costs $20. so that would bring your total to $195 for the day if you pre-register.
some of the fizz guys and i will probably be going to the time trials at pocono north on sept. 9. it would be nice to see some more IS300's there!

i don't think i'll be going to this one (work). pocono east can be tough - there are some really tight turns that get pretty tiring. i ran this track in 2005, and it was the main reason i bought the bride bucket seat (i had bruises on my elbow and knee from sliding around). haha.
but it's fun. you'll have a great time.

nice dan. hope your car gets done in time. i have to say, i was running my car hard for 25-30 minutes for 3 sessions, then 2 timed laps, then about 20 minutes more during the happy laps, and the car ran like a champ. huge props to mo/SRT for building such a reliable setup!
