As you can see, I don't normally post racing stories because simply I have none. It's not worth the insurance epecially living in New Jersey. (Those who lives in NJ knows what I'm talking about... how much do we pay for auto insurance..... :annoyed: )
In any case...... as you know Today's Setember 11... aka 9/11. On the way home, I encountered a 911 Carrera convertible (or a Cabriolette). It's rush hour and you got quite a bit of traffic. So I'm in my usual slow lane cruising with my music blasting. I noticed a convertible porsche switching in and out of lane behind me and finally came creep behind me pretty close. He wasn't tailgating but close enough to irritate me. If I were in fast lane, I would normally switch to the right for them to pass, but I'm already in slow lane. In South Jersey, our funky roads would have 2 lanes becoming 3, allowing the slowest lane to split into 2 lanes at certain traffic light so the idiots could pass and merge... (I never understood why they do that...) In anycase, I'm in the slowest lane and happened to be the first car at the red light(I'm one of those guys that instead of trying to beat the red light like alot of Jerseyians, I slow down). I looked to my right, noticed the Porsche behind me had already pulled up to the merging lane next to me. He comes up and smiles. The convertible top was down and judging the apperance, I would say he's some mid 40 year old guy perhaps spent over $92k on that car. Conversation went like this
Me: gave him a :thumbsup: "nice car. Porsche blue is very nice. What is it? Carrera Turbo?"
him: "no, Carrera. Mine's supercharged too like yours. 375hp"
Me: thinking.... hahaha yeah ok they dont come with s/c but who cares I'll play dumb. I know it's only a 325hp convertible but instead I said "oh really, 375hp. Very nice car." (how da fuck you put a s/c and only boost 50hp at the fly???)
him: :revs: yeah, it's fast.
me: thinking...it's not even a Carrera S..needless to say Turbo. At this point, I have nothing to say... wanting to turn up my music again so I could chill...
he revs more and obviously wanted to race me. I look ahead, it's about 300 yards before our 2 lanes merge but what's the point. I look to the lane to my left (fast lane) was a miniVan packed with kids so obviously they're not into racing neither. So before you know it, light turned green and the old dude guns it. Sadly to say I didn't hear any supercharger whine... so it's safe to say the dude was full of shit. The Carrera was fast.... had good pick up and sounded good. Just no whine :tomato: He spunned his wheels and probably thought he smoked me. I drove my normal pick up speed and was right behind him as he caught traffic ahead of him. Next thing you know.... light began to flash behind me... and I proceed to move out to the shoulder.. the police car continued and went behind the Porsche. As that 911 moved to the shoulder, so did the cop car. I started laughing........
The cop must have been sitting in basket and robins shop as he gunned down the road.... I thank god I didn't took his bait or both of us would have gotten pulled over. Instead of having a ticket now, I'm here cracking up and telling you guys this story :D
